Blue Island Phenol Asbestos Abatement

The Blue Island Phenol asbestos abatement project in Illinois consisted of removing all the asbestos prior to dismantlement.  The chemical plant made news in 2013 when the plant exploded and injured two employees.

The asbestos thermal systems insulation was on multiple columns ranging in height from 60 to 110 feet.  There were seven total columns as well as large storage tanks and process pipe throughout the unit.  The removal began in April 2018 and was completed at the end of June of the same year.  This six-figure project was completed without accidents or incidences and all work was completed on schedule.

The columns as well as elevated vessels and pipes were accessed by scaffolding erected by our inhouse skilled erectors.  The areas were prepared to include multiple columns and equipment and pipe. Read about more of our industrial hazardous material abatement projects.
